GOLF OUTING TO SUPPORT DEA & SAVE A STAR DRUG AWARENESS FOUNDATION

The SAVE A STAR Drug Awareness Foundation is holding its first annual golf outing at Hillcrest Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois to help raise money for the traveling mobile exhibit, “Rx Factor” that SAVE A STAR is working side by side with the DEA Educational Foundation to design and put into action.

The outing is planned for Monday, August 18, 2008 at Hillcrest Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois.  Beginning at 10:00 AM, participants will enjoy lunch, 18 holes of country club golf featuring a scramble format with a shotgun start, cocktail hour, golf prizes, live and silent auction and a 5:30 pm dinner.  Registration is currently being taken and spots are filling up fast. Fees per golfer are $450 or $1,800 per foursome and include meals, refreshments, golf and cart.

“We intend to have a fun day of golf where we hope people can also learn a little bit about the SAVE A STAR Mission,” says, Marty Segal, Golf Committee Chairman. Segal encourages those interested in the event to go online to www.SAVEASTAR.org to register.

“Since the inception of SAVE A STAR, founded in memory of our beloved son Daniel, who died last summer of a prescription drug overdose, we have come to realize that almost every family is touched in some way by abuse or addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.  Although this problem may not exist in your immediate family, it may exist in your extended family or among your friends and neighbors.” Says David Katz, Executive Director of the SAVE A STAR Drug Awareness Foundation.

The Foundation is soliciting corporate and individual sponsors.  Cash donations and auction item donations are also welcomed. Sponsors will be recognized in signage at the course and in the event program. “We have had a huge outpouring of community support for our foundation, and we want to recognize everyone whose help and support is making our mission possible,” explains Katz.

“We’ve received an incredible amount of donations for our live and silent auctions including a week in Mexico or a personal tour of the DEA in Washington, DC, including airfare and hotel.” said Dick Barr, who has been coordinating donations, sponsorships and reservations for the golf outing at the SAVE A STAR office.

“The main event sponsorships has already been reserved, however, we are still accepting other sponsorships” said Barr.  Sponsors of the event currently include Fashion Express; Tournament Sponsor, FGMK; Dinner Sponsor, Athletico and Scholarships.com; Lunch Sponsors, Sysco Foods; Beverage Sponsor, Addiction Intervention Resources; Putting Sponsor, as well as many other sponsorships.

For more information on the outing, or to register to play golf, attend the dinner, or sponsorship opportunities, contact the SAVE A STAR Drug Awareness Foundation office at 847-579-1300 or you can visit them online at www.SAVEASTAR.org.
